WOPAT launches One Billion Women Entrepreneurships initiative launched in Ghana
Women of Power and Transformation (WOPAT) has launched a digital market investment initiative in Ghana on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, targeting to develop over one Billion successful women entrepreneurs worldwide by the closed of the year 2030.
The initiative is aimed at empowering women with business advice and consultancy, affecting females and ladies around the globe, providing keynotes, winning grants or raising funds for education.
Speaking at the launching ceremony in Accra, Professor Michelle Walker-Davis, Founder and Chief Executive of WOPAT, said records indicate that black women are more educated but they are least in making money around the world.
This, she said there must be an effort to increase the value of women by initiating programmes to empower women globally, stressing that, “when you deny women the opportunity to participate in decision making and development process, you deny the world the needed development.”
According to her, the mission is, “to build up our community of women by empowering them in a safe and healthy environment to rise as leaders, to connect globally and support one another mentally, spiritually and economically for the greater good,”
“We’ll create synergy amongst Women as a Call to Action through Meet-Ups,” Prof Walker-Davis, who is also the Managing Partner for Imperial Management Group further stated.
The America based investor with a grant advancement industry worth over $850 billion market investment noted that the one billion successful women initiative would use different interventions business modules to empower women to be successful entrepreneurs.
She told participants including traditional rulers, business people and young entrepreneurs that, “We are really looking for businesses to support one another to come in with their millions and billions of dollars and then we are going to other successful women for them to give back,” she said.
Notwithstanding no availability of funds to commence this laudable initiative, Prof Michelle assured that several network groups with women of inspiration as Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markel on board would be used to access grants.
While charging the African women to rise up and join in the struggle for women entrepreneurship, the female business mogul said, “I know that there is $850,000 in free money out there so I’m going to work like hell to see that we access that and put them in our application for our women. We have a plan and a strategy that will work. We are not worried about the money. The money will come,” she added.
On her part, Reverend Dr Nana Yaa Owusu-Prempeh, Founder and President of Women in Leadership International, Ghana, encouraged the Ghanaian women to position themselves for the initiative.
The Initiative, she emphasized would “unleash phenomenal financial empowerment to women in the country. We are going to make sure that women who are ready to work are empowered with small money to start their businesses. We can change lives and we will do it one person at a time.”
She explained that the WOPAT in Ghana is expected to work with the Ministries of Education, Employment, Tourism and Gender, Children, and Social Protection to realise its dream.
Presence were Naa Adesey Omanyesane III, Queen-mother of Nungua Okpoigonnor and other traditional leaders.
The organizers of WOPAT announced that the initiative would also be launched in India in January 2022.
