MP for Builsa North commission new SHS for Chuchuliga Community
As part of his vision and policy to transform the Builsa North Constituency through education, the Member of Parliament for Builsa North in the Upper East Region, Hon James Agalga has commissioned a Senior High Technical School for the people of Chuchuliga, An agrarian community within the Constituency.
According to the MP, education remained the bedrock of every developed nation, hence the commissioning of the Senior High Technical School to increase access to higher education among the youth who travel far distances to access senior high school in neighbouring communities.
Speaking at a ceremony to Commission a six-unit class block that served as the foundation building for the Chuchuliga senior High school on January 3, 2022, Hon Agalga reiterated his commitment to initiate policies and programmes that would bring the needed development and growth to the area.
The school project, he stated commenced by the residents before he intervened with over GHS 300,000.00 from his MPs Common, stressing that, “the building will serve as the foundation building for the Chuchuliga Senior High/ Technical school ( SHTS) which was launched by the people themselves.”
“The building was constructed through the collaborative effort of the people of Chuchuliga who at various times provided communal labour and my office.
“In all my office voted over Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis( Ghc300000) from my share of the common fund to partly finance the project. Community members also made contributions in cash and kind to support the project.
“It is my prayer that the government will support the school to promote Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) in order to foster youth employment and entrepreneurship,” the Builsa North lawmaker and a former Deputy Minister for Interior added.
Mr Agalga however has advised parents and guardians within the Constituency to continue investing in their wards’ education to create a better future for them.
He also tasked philanthropists and stakeholders in the educational sector to assist schools in the Constituency with additional teaching and learning materials to improve the quality of education in the Constituency.
The MP said giving children a strong foundation at the basic and the secondary level was very important if children were to excel in their academic endeavours.
He urged parents and the youth in the area not to be discouraged by the current state of the country’s educational system and the unbearable economic challenges confronting the nation, but rather pray for the return of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rescue the nation from unproductive administration led y President Akufo Addo of the NPP.
THE Chiefs and people of the Chuchuliga traditional area expressed their gratitude to the MP for his support in ensuring the project was complete to provide accommodation for the school.
