Speaker seeks God guidance’s for Second Session of Parliament as MPs return on Jan.25
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Bagbing is seeking God guidance and protections for Parliament as the House reconvened on January 25, 2022, for the Second Session of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
A statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament said the Speaker expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the many well-meaning Ghanaians who extended goodwill messages and encouragement to him as he ended the First Session of Parliament.
“The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the numerous well-meaning Ghanaians who extended congratulations and encouragement to him as he concluded his first year as Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic.
“The Speaker is touched and humbled by the love showed him and the prayers said for him on that occasion.
“He recognizes that the overwhelming messages of goodwill are indications that Ghanaians are following the work of Parliament with lots of expectations and keen interest.
“He assures all Ghanaians that he will continue to play his part as best as he can to ensure the growth and development of Mother Ghana, especially in the area of parliamentary democracy and good governance.
“He looks forward to a stronger partnership with government and civil society in promoting accountability during this second year of his tenure.
“Mr. Speaker further asks for God guidance and blessings for the Legislature as it begins the second year of its four-year tenure, and also for the Executive, the Judiciary and all Ghanaians,” the statement concluded.
