The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has warned members of the public against a face Facebook account with the name of Minister and different pictures doing the rounds on social media platforms and soliciting funds to procure jobs.

In a disclaimer issued by the Ministry, it noted that the false account bearing the name of Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum, urging members of the public, especially job seekers to pay some funds for job placement.

The Ministry, therefore, warned the public to disregard any social media accounts in the name of the Minister, Hon Kum fraudulently operating in line for commercial purposes and persons who have fallen victim to such scams should report to the police.

It further warned persons perpetrating such crime to desist from such fraudulent acts.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake Facebook account created in the name of Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Ghana and Member of Parliament for the Ahanta West Constituency.

“The forged Facebook account seeks to offer jobs to job seekers for money (fees).

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs wishes to inform the general public that Hon.  Ebenezer Kojo Kum does not operate a Facebook account for business or funds solicitation neither does he engage the services of third parties for such purposes.

“The matter has been reported to the security agencies for the appropriate. Action to be taken. However, the general public is strongly urged to disregard any social media account in the name of the Minister fraudulently operating in the line for commercial purposes.

“Perpetrators using the fake and or false Facebook account are strongly advised to desist from such fraudulent acts.

“The Ministry takes this opportunity to advise all job seekers to exercise some level of due diligence in their quest for their desired jobs to avoid falling victims to all manner of job scams,” portions of the disclaimer reads.
