MP for Sege urges IGP to launch full scale investigation into Radio Ada attack
The Deputy Ranking of Members Holding Offices of Profit Committee of Parliament and MP for Sege, Hon Christian Corletey Otuteye has called on the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Dr George Dampare and his men to launch an indepth investigation and arrest all persons involved in the attack on the Radio Ada.
According to him, apart from the criminal act of threat of life’s and destruction of property, the perpetrators also sought to stifle the work of the media.
The Radio Ada in the Ada East District of Greater Accra Region was on Thursday, January 13,2022, attacked by unknown macho men in masks during a live Program.
The said heavily built masked men assaulted staff and Guest of the station and also damaged equipment of the station.
But Hon Otuteye in a press statement condemned the criminal attack, describing it as “primitive” act which sought to intimidate the good people of Sege and Ada and as well coerced the work of the media.
He therefore called on the IGP to launch a full scale investigation to arrest all persons and prosecute them to serve as deterrent to others who might contemplate acting same.
The MP also urged the people of Sege and Ada, the immediate beneficiaries of the Radio station to continue to stand firm in unity against all manner of act of intimidation.

MP FOR SEGE STATEMENT ON THE ATTACK AT RADIO ADA AND THE DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY
14/01/22
The office of the Member of Parliament for Sege is extremely scandalized by news reports of some unknown weapon wielding “macho” men who attacked our community radio station (Radio Ada 93.3) on Thursday 13th January 2022.
These hoodlums are said to have manhandled, assaulted and kept hostage, at gunpoint presenters and a guest during their barbaric attack on the station.
The heavily built masked men smashed broadcast equipment and damaged several other machines, furniture among others.
I strongly condemn this barbaric, primitive and lawless act, and calls on the Inspector General of Police and the Police Services in the Ada enclave for an immediate investigation and prosecution of all persons involved.
As a representative of the people of Sege, who benefit from the Station, I shall not sit down for the media to be coerced, terrorized and stifled to the whims and caprices of some criminals.
The unwarranted attack and brutality of media persons and their stations cannot be shelved unpunished any longer.
I further urged the good people of Sege and Ada to stand firm in unity to resist any act of intimidation and lawlessness.
… Signed …
Hon Christian Corletey Otuteye
MP, Sege
