I did not benefit Military Protection –Mike Oquaye
Former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Michael Oquaye, has refuted allegations that he was given military protection while he was Speaker of the 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic.
A statement signed by the former Speaker said such stories are false and should be disregarded. He said that he never had any military protection nor requested for one during his time as Speaker of the House.
Professor Ocquaye said that he only had three policemen to move with and provide security at all times.
This information the statement said can be easily verified by anyone who cares for the truth at the Office of the Clerk-to-Parliament.
He asked that his name be left out of the media discourse on military protection and called on the public to disregard any misleading reportage on the issue.
