As part of his efforts in eliminating the “lack of furniture syndrome” among basic schools in the Wa East district, the Member of Parliament for the Wa East Constituency, Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has procured and donated metal dual desks to some Junior High Schools in the constituency.

This forms the first phase of an ongoing effort of equipping the basic schools in his constituency with good furniture to aid teaching and learning.

Presenting the Desks to the Wa East District Director of Education, Dr Jasaw said he was fully aware of the enormous challenges facing the education sector in the district and assured that he would do everything humanely possible within his means to get them resolved.

He explained that the desks were made of metal so that they could last longer and could easily be maintained when broken down.

The lawmaker called on the District Assembly and other non-governmental organisations to complement his efforts in confronting the challenges facing education in the area.

The Headteachers on behalf of the pupils, teachers and parents of the beneficiary school thanked the MP for his intervention to help them have proper furniture to aid in teaching and learning.

While wishing the MP good health and God’s protection for him to continue to serve his constituents, the Headteachers also assured that they would give up their best to improve academic performance in the schools.

The beneficiary Schools include: Funsi R/C JHS, Kunyebin JHS, Loggu JHS, Jeyiri JHS, Bulenga JHS, Manwe JHS, Gudaayiri JHS and Baayiri JHS.

The MP was accompanied by the District Director of Education, Madam Aishetu Ibrahim to beneficiary Schools in the district to hand over the desks to the beneficiary Schools took terms to address the pupils, teachers and parents.
