Six Communities in Kpando lacks access to Mobile Network Connectivity

At least six communities within the Kpando Constituency lack access to mobile network connectivity, Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Della Sowah said.

According to him, residents have complained to her severally concerning, their inability to voice calls or receive calls due to poor networks connectivity.

The only option available to the residents, she said is to either climb on high-rise buildings in order to receive or make calls.

As the result, the MP summoned the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon Ursula Owusu to parliament to answer questions over the concerns raised by her constituents.

Hon. Della  Sowah wanted to know when the six communities would be connected to the mobile network to resolve the telephony truncating of calls.

“Mr. Speaker, I rise to ask the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation when the following communities the Kpando Constituency will be provided mobile network connectivity: (i)  Sovie (ii) Gbefi Tornu (iii) Gbefi Hoeme(iv) Kudzra (v) Dafoe Tornu (vi) Torkor,”  Hon  Della Sowah.

In response, the Minister for Communication, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekufu said, the Kudzra and Gbefi-Tornu communities are included in Phase1of  the Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion Project (GRTDIP).

According to the Minister, “Land has been acquired in Kudzra for construction to commence whiles in Gbefi-Tornu land is yet to be acquired.”

She said MTN Ghana has a coverage presence in Torkor and has also captured Sovie in their 2022 network rollout plan for connectivity.

The other remaining communities, Hon Ursula Owusu said would be considered in Phase 2 of the GRTDIP project.
