The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley, Hon Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, has extended a word of commendation to the Chamber of Mines for contributing a whopping sum of US$ 4million to Appiatse Fund.

The mining companies that contributed the donations to the Fund include AngloGold Ashanti Limited, Chirano Gold Mines, Goldfield Ghana Limited and Newmont Ghana limited.

According to him, the donation would go a long way to add up the effort been made by the government and as well as his office as MP to alleviate the plight of the victims.

Hon Wisdom Cudjoe made the commendation in response to news reports that the Ghana Chamber of Mines has donated US$4 million to the Appiatse Fund as its contribution for the victims of the explosion.

He said as representative of the people in parliament, he would forever support any legitimate form of campaign that is aimed at supporting the victims who are currently living in tents at the mercy of the weather.

The MP further called on other mining companies in the country to emulate their counterparts in this trying time to give hope to the displaced victims.

He said the explosion has sadly left a huge problem and something that we need as a nation to tackle as a society.

He reiterated his calls on the government to expedite action in the provision of permanent houses for the residents as the tents in which they currently camped could not withstand bad weather during the rainy seasons.
