Busia-Danquah tradition causes of Ghana’s problems –Alhaji Sherif

A national Executive Member of the National  Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Sherif  Abdul-Nasiru, has berated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Busia-Danquah-Dombo tradition for always thwarting  Ghana’s development since Independent.

According to him, since its inception in the immediate post-WWII politics in Ghana, the Busia-Danquah-Dombo tradition did not believe in the use of universal adult suffrage through the ballot box to elect representatives to rule the country.

He said the NPP and its traditions had wanted chiefs to appoint representatives to the national legislative assembly and since then been changing its tactics which has affected Ghana’s democracy and development.

Speaking to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, on the recent happening in Parliament and economic hardship, Alhaji Sherif said the NPP does not only have a violent streak in its nature, but it is also anti-democratic despite the noise the party has been making that it has ushered a “democratic dispensation” in the country since 2001.

“The Busia-Danquah-Dombo tradition is anti-democratic. At the very beginning of the foundation of what has become the modern nation-state of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah exposed these anti-democrats of the Busia-Danquah-Dombo as follows in the pre-independent era,” he said.

The NDC national executive member noted that the anti-democratic nature of the Busia-Danquah-Dombo tradition became more evident in the 2020 general elections where its elements within the Electoral Commission and the Judiciary did all they could to disenfranchised many Ghanaians by excluding birth certificates as evidence of nationality.

He said despite the abundant resources at the disposal of President Akufo Addo, hardly could Ghanaians point at any tangible development project that have been executed by the current administration, stressing that, the Akufo Addo government is only good at destroying rather than building.

He said many companies and industries whose owners are not affiliated to the NPP have suffered one way or the other, thereby making the country polarized beyond redemption.

The businessman cum politicians noted that, the question is, “what government would permit these primitive and terrorist methods of attacking its opposing political parties with these senseless, barbaric policies.”

“They came and within a short period many banks collapsed, industries foldup, youth unemployment has gone up, teachers and labours always on strikes, even the so call free senior high school they brought is not working, everything is just bad, yet they could not tell us what they use our taxes for,” he added.

Alhaji Sherif who has expressed his interest to contest the NDC Vice Chairmanship position should nomination open, chided that even if Ghanaians mistakenly gives the NPP hundred years to lead the country, nothing good would ever happened in Ghana, stating, “they are only good in destroying others and stuffing the national resources for their personal and parochial interest.”

He said the anti-democratic and violent nature of the NPP, a chip from the old Busia-Danquah-Dombo block of matemeho, is visionless and selfish rogues and ought to be voted out in the 2024 elections to save Ghana.

While urging Ghanaians to vote NPP out of office, Hon Alhaji Sherif urged the NDC to close ranks in unity, work hard in the polling station by being vigilante for Ghanaians are disappointed in NPP and are  ready  to vote for NDC for a return to the path for Ghana’s political and economic emancipation.
