Palestinian Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Ministry condemn the assassination of Shireen
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates had condemned the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh and demand justice.
The Ministry called on the international community to be bold and hold Israel responsible for killing of the martyr Abu Akleh and to hold perpetrators accountable.
In a statement, the ministry expresses its deepest astonishment at the position of some countries that do not directly hold Israeli responsible for the execution of the martyr Abu Akleh. The statement also has it that, silence is what encourage the occupying state to continue its lies and misleading campaigns and gives it more time for attempt to escape responsibility for the heinous crime.
In a briefing on Monday 16th May, 2022, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana H.E Abdal Fatah Ahmed Khalil Alsattari expressed worry over the continues violation, illegal arrest and killing of innocent citizens of Palestine in recent times.
He further stated that the suffering of the Palestinian and the Israeli occupation is long overdue.
” our suffering is too much, Palestinian suffering more than seventy four years now under Israeli occupation. But believe me Palestine stay and occupation will go,” he said.
However, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablekwa on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament condemned the killing of Shireen Akleh as well as other Palestine and in solidarity said even though lies and injustice may take the lead, truth will always stand and justice shall prevail.
According to Mr. Okudzeto, the incident left a scar on the conscience of humanity.
He urger the people of Palestine to stay strong and continue to lead the struggle toward the day of full and total libration of the Palestinian.
Shireen until the untimely death was a professional journalist and a reporter for Al – Jazeera for more than twenty years.
She was shot dead while covering an Israeli military operation in the West Bank City of Jenin on Wednesday, 11th 2022.
Shireen was known to be one of the outstanding names across the middle East for reporting in the Israeli occupied Palestine territories.
In regard to the martyrdom of Abu Akleh, the Embassy of Palestine in Ghana had opened a book of condolence in honor of Shireen from Tuesday 17th to Thursday 19th May, 2022.
