MP for Sissala West unveils Skill Training Programme to tackle Youth Unemployment
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West, Hon Mohammed Adams Sukrapu has unveiled a skills training programme dubbed ” Mohammed Adams Sukparu Youth Empowerment Training Initiative” (MASYET) for the youth within the constituency.
The initiative is aimed at equipping the youth with the requisite skills and knowledge to make them competitive in the job market.
Launching the initiative, Hon. Sukparu explained thag the programme is geared toward tackling the challenges of unemployment.
“Kuoro Chair, for us in the Sissala West District, the need for developing the skills of our youth and equipping them towards entrepreneurial ventures has never been this crucial. This is because the youth of this constituency constitute a substantial number of our population, with those between the age of 20 to 40 constituting up to 37 percent of the total population.

“Our surest bet against the challenges of unemployment is to ensure that we put our youth to work by training them in crafts that are on ready and consistent demand,” he explained.
He added that the initiative further ensure the youth are “providing relevant services to our community and generating incomes towards their personal development and the development of the entire district at large.”
“We must empower them to identify their own talents, chart their own path to progress and pursue their own ambitions. I believe there can be no better way of empowerment than ensuring first of all, that they have the ability to provide their own basic needs through the acquisition and use of manifold skills.”
The MASYET Project targets training hundreds of selected youth in areas of auto-mechanic works, welding and fabrication, fashion design hairdressing, among others.
Participants in each field will be enrolled for a three-year intensive practical training.

Some personalities including National Youth Organizer of NDC George Opare and his Deputy Edem Agana joined the MP to launch the programme.
