Economic Crisis: Akufo-Addo has lost Control of Governance-Alhaji Sherif

Alhaji Sherif Abdul Nasiru, a national executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has blamed the Akufo- Addo-led New Patriotic Party, NPP, for the worsening fuel crises across the country.

Speaking to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, Alhaji Sherif said, the prevailing chaotic situation in the country with widespread uncertainties, unabating fuel crisis, piercing economic hardship, sectional agitations, heated industrial unrests, infrastructural stagnation, kidnapping, daily bloodletting and escalated insecurity with gangsters and armed robbery now taking over the streets day light robbery further confirms that the Akufo-Addo administration is now on autopilot.

According to him, the NPP has wrecked the economy and while other world leaders are solving problems in their countries, President Akufo-Addo who promised to fix the problems when voted in power has abandoned Ghanaians to the excruciating economic crisis.

He said the wanton corruption perpetrated by the President and his NPP leaders at the helm of affairs, has now crippled economic activities in the country.

“With the corruption and abdication of duty by the NPP, our nation is now at the mercy of depreciated cedi against the dollar, a development that has resulted in a spiral increase in transport fares, costs of food, medicines and other essential commodities.

“This is in addition to the collapse of many businesses, massive loss of jobs, hunger and starvation, the sudden death of breadwinners with grave economic pressure on millions of families and attendant social consequences to our country.

“Our party is concerned that the insensitivity and utter disregard of the NPP  and its government for the feelings of the people have heightened tension in the country and if not checked could result in widespread restiveness and eventual breakdown of law and order.

“It is clear that the NPP has come to the end of the road in governance and has nothing else to offer Ghanaians. This is the reason why we the NDC(National Democratic Congress), therefore, urged Ghanaians to remain steadfast and hopeful as our party press forward in its mission to rescue and rebuild our country,” he added.

Alhaji Sherif described the six years of President Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party administration as a failure in every sector of our national life.

He added that the evidence available in every part of the country confirms that the Akufo-Addo administration has failed woefully in all its promises and claims, particularly in the fight against corruption, economy, security, education, democracy as well as national unity.

In the view of the NDC national executive member, the nation has become dangerously divided with violent clashes and bloodletting becoming the order of the day.

He further chided the Akufo Addo government for not doing enough in the provision of better services to Ghanaians in line with his electioneering promises.

He however urged Ghanaians to brace up and support one another in the face of abandonment by the government as all critical indicators show that the NPP has abdicated its constitutional duty to guarantee their security and welfare.
