Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Bagbin has called on residents and stakeholders within the Bawku traditional area to collaborate in search of lasting peace in the area.

According to him, the protracted conflict can only be resolved by the indigenes themselves living within the Bawku area and its immediate environs.

Rt Hon Bagbin made the call when the family of the late John Akparibo Ndebugre called on him in Parliament to formally announce his death and burial arrangement slated for July 16, 2022, at his Hometown near Zebila in the Upper East Region.

He added that his office is making efforts together with the government and other peacemakers to reach out to all the feuding factions in the conflict to bring lasting peace.

While eulogizing the late lawmaker for Zebila as Iconic with unique and unblemished character, the Speaker said there was the need to celebrate persons like late Ndebugre for his principles and truthful way of living.

He added that if possible, a book about the Life of Ndebugre should be written to preserve his principles for the younger generation to emulate.

The Minority Leader, Hon Haruna Iddrissu described the late Ndebugre as a principled legal man of forthrightness and unhidden sincere character.

He said his painful demise has left many in grief, especially those who knew him in the political field, adding that Ndebugre died as a man who stood for peace and justice at all times and therefore deserves a befitting burial.

He assured that the Minority caucus in parliament remains in grief and in sorrow with the family to give the late MP a burial befitting a statesman.

The Ndebugre family was led by Hon Cletus Apul Avoka, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Zebila and other traditional leaders of the Zebila traditional area.

According to the family, the funeral of late John Ndebugre will commence on Thursday, July 14, with pre-burial church services at the Forecourt of the state House.

The body would then be taken to Zebila on Friday, July 15, for a burial service on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

The former Member of Parliament for Zebila died on Friday, May 6 at the age of 72.

He left behind a wife and four children.
