NDC@30: Weija Constituency salute Founding Fathers

As part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the party, the Weija Chaper of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent word of commendation to the founding fathers of the party for laying down their lives for the Party and nurturing it till date.

30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS – NDC

Thirty years ago today, we have come to know a scene in history that had once seemed impossible – the formation of a political movement that would settle and shape the political foundations of our beloved country, Ghana. Through the visionary leadership of H.E Flt. Lt. Jeremiah John Rawlings, founder of the fourth republic which peace and political stability the nation still pride itself in and his carefully selected able team, the Democratic Congress – NDC was birth and for the first time, the people of this country had an actual choice in national political, social, economic, religious and cultural discourse.

Founded in 1992, it is without doubt the experienced in governance under the fourth Republic; a gain that needs to be consolidated by strengthening our structures and systems to ensure it grows beyond what we currently praise. The National Democratic Congress, NDC is a social democratic political party which was founded on the principles of Probity, Accountability and Social Justice.

Since our formation, we have had leaders who have chaired the party with the ideals of its formation and provided grate leadership for the party and always choosing the path of humanity and tranquillity of which my grandfather, Sir Dr Ebenezer Ofoli Kofi Portuphy who celebrated his 72nd birthday yesterday is immediate past chairman. He handed over to Eld Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, our able and current chairman worthy of another term for his godly and result oriented leadership.

We have also provided the nation with great Presidents from H.E Jerry John Rawlings who is known as father of the 4th Republic and a president during whose regime Ghana experienced tremendous development in our Education, Energy and other Sectors of our economy. H.E Prof John Evans Atta Mills who was known for his fight against corruption and exploits in restoring decency into our political scenes and H.E John Dramani Mahama who is affectionately referred to as ‘The Nation Builder’ and his exploits also at putting Ghana in the league of nations on the international front.

We are thirty years today! An age that we must reflect on solemnly but also celebrate in gladness and optimism of what lies ahead of us. Let us remember the famous caution JJ Rawlings gave us during our Campaign Launch in 2016 at Cape Coast Stadium. That tale must be strictly admonished and its repercussions guarded against.

The NDC remains a party of choice for the young people because, it is the only main political party in Ghana that gives equal opportunities to all of it’s members. The likes of Sammy Gyamfi Esq, Kobby Bollon, Chief Biney, Godwin Ako Gunn, Barbara Asamoah Esq, Peter Otokunor, Edudzi Tamakloe Esq, Eric Edem Agbana, Ruth Sedor to mention but a few, all serving at the national level in various capacities.

Ghana is looking forward to us for the rescue and we must not fail this time. The crust corruptness, arbitrary use of power, intimidations, attacks on chiefs, human right abuses, hardships, international ridicules and mismanagement of the economy by Dr Bawumia and his Boss can no longer be entertained and they must be stopped at all cost at the polls come December 2024.

As we commemorate this day, may we not forget that we owe it a duty to the people of this country who have consistently showed trust in us and our offerings for which reason they are looking forward for redemption in their lives. Let us go through all our reorganization processes with oneness, unity of purpose and togetherness so that we can present a formidable team into the battle ahead.
