The Member of Parliament for Amenfi East, Hon Nicholas Amamkwah has assured that he would do everything humanely possible to provide the necessary logistics and resources to the Ghana Police Service within his constituency to enable it to discharge its duties effectively, especially in the wake of reports of indiscipline and lawlessness.

Practically he said the equipping of the police in the constituency with the provision of motorbikes and others would be extended to other deprived communities considered within his means and limit.

Hon Amamkwa commented at a short but impressive ceremony to commission the Wassa Afransie community police station on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

.He said the effort is part of his contribution to the police for a conducive environment to stay and operate in the fight against crime in the community.

The police facility contains provides comfortable offices for investigators, male and female cells, and amour office, washroom, charge office, store room and offices for officers and the commander.

HON AMAMKWA PRESENTS MOTORBIKES TO POLICE

While calling on residents of the community and its environs to support the police with reliable and timely information to combat crime, the lawmaker presented a brand-new motorbike and cash sum ofGHS2, 000 to complete the police bungalow.

The MP reiterated his call on the Western Regional Minister who doubles as Chairman of the Western Regional Security Council, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah for more resources for Amenfi East Police to combat crime, saying that “peace, stability and prosperity in Amenfi remain an absolute priority for the residents.”

Hon. Amankwah also commended the Chief and the residents for their enormous contribution to the development and policing of the Wassa Afransie community.

He however expressed the hope that the new edifice would enable the police to discharge their duties more effectively and efficiently.

He again commended the district police officers for protecting lives and properties despite their limited resources meanwhile; he pledged to continue to invest in the police service in his constituency for the benefit of its residents.

According to him, the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal is becoming an industrial hub and, therefore, needed such an edifice to improve efficiency and performance in crime prevention and protecting lives and properties.

He described the location of the police station as very strategic because Wassa Afransie and several other towns within the Wassa Amenfi East were living in fear over frequent armed robbery attacks.

The Chief of Wassa Afransie, Nana Amua Gyaafo, sponsored the construction of an ultra-modern police station to improve policing in his neighborhood and other nearby places.
