The Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has been honoured by the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) for his immense support and sponsorship of the Students Union and individual students from across the country.

According to the Student, Hon Vanderpuye has extended his selflessness support to a large number of students on the various campuses from within and outside his political Constituency of Odododiodioo.

The Honour was done during the handing over ceremony to the newly elected national executives of USAG at the East Legon Campus of Knutsford University in Accra over the weekend.

The students association in citation acknowledged the support provided by the former Minister of Youth and Sports and expressed their profound gratitude for his immense and indiscriminate contribution to the lives of the beneficiary students.

HON VANDERPUYE RECEIVING HIS HONOUR

Even though the MP’s support to the beneficiary students was quiet, the students said they recognised it from their interactions with many of those students across the various campuses and prayed that he would continue to support education in the country.

In response, Hon Vanderpuye expressed appreciation for the honour done him and assured the entire USAG body of his continuous support for every needy student who knocks on his door for the support.

He said he is inspired by the fact that had it not been for other people’s support he wouldn’t have had a University education.

The MP who is the Ranking member of the Local Government Committee of Parliament however urged the leadership of the Students association to always focus on what is in the interest of Ghanaian students and refrain from serving the interest of political leaders.

The USAG’s newly elected executives were sworn into office and encouraged to work hard to maintain discipline and unity among the entire University students in the country.

Present at the ceremony was Hon Mohammed Adams Sukparu, MP for Sissala West and a former student leader.
