Tempane MP supports Communities with Streetlights to fight crime

THE Member of Parliament for Tempane Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, has supported communities in the area with street lights as part of an effort to combat crime in the constituency.

According to the lawmaker, the intervention was part of her commitment to the welfare of the people, especially their safety and security at night.

The MP said lighting the principal streets of the communities was part of measures to illuminate the streets and neighborhoods to reduce criminal activities.

“As MP for such a deprived Constituency, where many of the population are women and travels even at night to and from markets, it is my responsibility to fast track the development of the area,” she said.

Hon Lamisi Akanvariba reiterated her commitment to work hard to give the constituents the needed development to justify the confidence reposed in her but not be an armed chair MP.

The MP said in appreciation of the role of traditional leaders in their contribution to keeping the peace for development in the communities, she donated Television sets to be used in their palaces.

She said, “not only that, but I also supported several projects through partnership with non-governmental organizations in the constituency.”

Hon Lamisi Akanvariba further assured of her commitment to supporting farmers, women groups, and the youth with the necessary resources, adding that the “government cannot do it alone, hence the need for other groups to also come on board to support the communities.”

She stated that “even though there are challenges in the country, “I urged my people to be patient and I intensify my lobbies with the government and other development partners to bring development.”

The female lawmaker however called on the constituents to remain united and promote peace toward development.
