Women’s Organiser aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Anlo Constituency of the Volta Region, Madam Caroline Tsikata has reiterated her commitment to ensuring that women in the Constituency are given much-needed incentives and an atmosphere to thrive and attain a new level of social status if she is voted as women’s organiser in the upcoming constituency elections.

According to her women are not just home-builders but also community builders, with fantastic managerial and leadership qualities which if well harnessed will be vital tools for nation-building.

Madam Tsikata stated this during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, via telephone at Anlo after she had filed her nomination to contest other two fellow women for the position of constituency women’s organizer.

She said, “Behind the front of men is a strong force of women, joining hands together and abilities to empower and liberate women of the NDC party as well as the nation.”

As part of her medium to long-term vision when elected as the Women’s Organizer, she will “build a strong disciplined and well resources women’s network across the branches and constituency.”

“I shall establish a strong financial base through the innovative plan by using diaspora women’s front in order to help meet the growing needs of the constituency women.”

“In addition to that, I shall honour women of today and yesterday through symbolic activities periodic festivities and as well lobby the government to appoint women at all levels of the political spectrum, especially on committees, assembly and boards,” Madam Tsikata outlined her vision.

To ensure women take an active part in the development process, Madam Tsikata said, she would engage all political parties and women groups.  Queen mothers, market women, midwives, nurses, and religious faith-based women associations to get involved.

While articulating her long-held passion to help rural women, Madam Tsikata reassured the delegates that if given the opportunity to lead the NDC women in the Anlo constituency  she will ensure a holistic transformation of women’s welfare and advancement in the constituency.

She again promised to facilitate proper access to a quality healthcare system, incorporate more women into the fold, empower them to be self-sufficient, and also ensure they are well represented in the political cum leadership roles.

“It is a passion that is driving me, I am not going there to advance my personal interest or seek personal glorification, all I want is an opportunity to impact lives and make a positive history,” she added.

Madam Tsikata is in the contest with two other women including Matilda Ahiafor and Sandra Seyram, but she expressed optimistic of victory to lead the NDC women front to total victory in the 2024 election.

Per the guidelines, the party will hold its Constituency elections between October 22 and 23, 2022, while the regional elections would be held between November 12 and 13, 2022.

The National Congress will be held on December 17, 2022.
