Constituency Chairman Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Weija-Gbawe Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, John Afful has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the grassroots in the Constituency are given much-needed incentives if he is voted as Chairman in the upcoming constituency elections.

He said, the grassroots are not just party-builders but also community builders, with incredible managerial and leadership qualities which if well harnessed with resources will be critical tools for the party and the nation.

Mr. Afful, a member of the Communication Team of the NDC stated this during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, in Accra, about his vision and promises to the grassroots in the Constituency and the Region.

He said, at the back of the political party is a strong force of the grassroots base, joining hands together and abilities to empower and liberate the youth wing of the NDC party as well as the nation.

In his vision when elected as the Regional Chairman, Afful will “build a strong disciplined and well resources grassroots base of the NDC’s network across the branches and constituencies.”

“My mission is to transform the Weija-Gbawe Constituency into one, that is to be able to mobilize the grassroots to encourage greater participation to ensure victory for the NDC, in both Presidential and Parliamentary elections in 2024.”

“My Vision is to make sure that the party grassroots benefit from the fruits of the government when the party is in power,” Mr. Afful added.

He noted that when elected, he would collaborate with the regional executives to organize regular and periodic training and workshops for all party constituency executives and most importantly, the polling agents.

Mr. Afful who hinged his campaign with the promise to improve the welfare of the constituency wards and branch executives emphasized that he would do his best to rebrand, and resource the constituency to capture power.

The ultimate aim, he said is to end the NPP dominance in the constituency and take over the parliamentary seat and called on the delegates to give him chance to help end the dominance.

According to him, the good people of Weija-Gbawe are tired of the NPP tricks, hence the need for him to chair the members to vote them out.

He said the years of dominance by the New Patriotic Party in Weija-Gbawe ended the day he would be the Chairman and indicated interest to run a transparent Constituency

While articulating his long-held passion to help the constituency youth, Mr. Afful reassured the delegates that if given the opportunity to lead the NDC in the Weija-Gbawe constituency he will ensure a holistic transformation of the youth welfare and advancement.

Mr. Afful is in the contest with other aspirants including the incumbent Chairman who is seeking re-election, but he expressed optimistic of victory to lead the NDC front to total victory in the 2024 election.

Per the guidelines, the party will hold its Constituency elections between October 22 and 23, 2022, while the regional elections would be held between November 12 and 13, 2022.

The National Congress will be held on December 17, 2022.
