NDC‘ll take Over Power in 2024- Ibrahim Jaja declares
Incumbent Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ibrahim Jaja has said the party will recapture more parliamentary seats in the region and as well shore up the presidential votes to ultimately take over power at the December 7, 2024 elections.
Mr. Jaja stated this at the Regional Party Headquarters on Monday, October 17, 2022, after he was declared unopposed to contest for the re-election of the Regional Vice Chairmanship for the next four years.
He was declared unopposed alongside his colleague incumbent First Vice Chairman for the Greater Accra Region, William Vinyo.
Speaking to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA soon after vetting where he was declared unopposed, Hon Jaja said the NDC is ready to take back power and nothing will stop its victory, emphasizing that the region is working to increase the number of the parliamentary seats from 20 to at least 25.
He said the region went to the 2020 election, with 13 parliamentary seats having lost more in 2016, but due to hard teamwork, the party was able to recapture more seats to 20, adding that, “we target more than but when we realized the rest will need more work and the election time was closer, we concentrated on the 20 and we did capture the 20 seat out of the total 34 seats in the region.”
“Everyone is going to work hard. I believe with this spirit we will definitely do \/very well in the 2024 general election and nothing will stop us from taking over power come December 7, 2024,” he added.
He said the work he and his colleagues and regional executives did in the 2020 elections, inured some of them popular support without anyone coming for to contest for the Vice Chairmanship post.
“If you ask me how I managed to secure an unopposed slot for this election, I will say, it is because of the work we did in 2020, and everyone has seen and trusted our work.”
“When I was campaigning for the Vice Chairmanship post in 2018, I made promises and as I stand here today, I can confidently say, I have achieved most of them and the evidence is there.” Mr. Jaja explained.
The NDC has scheduled the Constituency elections for the weekend on October 22 and 23, 2022, while the regional elections would be held between November 12 and 13, 2022. The National Congress will be held on December 17, 2022.
Nevertheless, Chairman Jaja said the NDC is poised to recapture power to rescue Ghanaians from the economic hardship as a result of what he termed ” mismanaged economy” by the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He charged both aspirants and delegates to conduct themselves peacefully, and ensure they campaign on issues and ideas devoid of personal attacks delegates also refrained from picking camps and causing disaffections among aspirants.
The NDC has always thrown open its executive positions for all members amid calls for unity, team, and vigilance.
