Hon Teddy Addi makes Big Intervention for Basic Education in Ayensuano Constituency
The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano, Hon Teddy Safori Addi, has made big interventions for 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates who could not register for the final exams.
The MP who is a Member of the Employment and Social Welfare Committee of Parliament was touched by the plight of the students and paid for their registration during a tour of the constituency.
He told EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, the intervention was his personal resource to the students who were virtually going to lose their brighter future should they fail to partake in the BECE.
“During my visit to Ayibontey Maranatha School, l was informed that ten of my JHS students couldn’t register for their final BECE Exams. I was touched by the plight of these vulnerable students who may have a brighter future of becoming either an MP like myself or a minister of state.
“I could not have afforded to look on for the education of these students to be truncated due to financial issues; I have therefore made a cash donation for the payment of their registration fees and have also pledged to give them periodic support,” he added.
He said similarly, he received distress calls from Pretesco Secondary school where some Home Economic students could not pay for their West Africa Secondary School (WASS) practicals and I made an intervention and paid GHS10,000 to enable them to have the practical.
The MP said, education remained the backbone of development and the means to bridge the gap between the developed and underdeveloped areas, hence the effort to support education, especially for brilliant but needy students in the constituency.
“These students are the backbone of the nation and must be given the maximum support they need to excel for a brighter future. As part of the all-inclusive development and progressive agenda championed within our beloved Ayensuano constituency, I made a donation of 30 bags of cement, packs of roofing sheets, books, and an undisclosed amount of money to the Abobiri JHS,” Hon Teddy added.
He also donated Mowers and office equipment to the PRETESCO school and the District Education Directorates to help with weeding and office works respectively.
While urging parents and other stakeholders to support education in the constituency, the MP reiterated his commitment to ensuring an improved system of education in the constituency to uplift the face of the Ayensuano in development.
