Information locked by EXPRESSNEWSGHANA indicated that, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng has rendered in his resignation to enable him to contest the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidates’ primaries.

Mr. Kyeremateng alias Alan Cash is said to have tendered his resignation this week, informing President Nana Akufo-Addo about his intention to contest the NPP presidential candidate primaries.


Our sources closed to the Jubilee House indicated the Presidency is yet to act on the letter by Mr. Kyeremateng.

The president has the option to accept the resignation or not.

However, whichever way the Presidency reacts to the Trade Minister’s resignation will call for political debates.

Mr. Alan Cash’s resignation may force other Ministers of States who are vying for the NPP flagbearship to follow suit with their resignation.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who is equally vying for the Flagbearship may also resign should the President accept the Trade Minister’s resignation.

Other notable persons in the race include Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, Hon Joseph Ghartey, MP for Essikado-Ketan, Hon Francis Addai Nimo, former MP for Mampong, and Dr. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, former Minister for Energy.

The NPP is yet to fix a date for the party primaries to elect it’s 2024 Presidential candidate.

Though any of the aspirants could spring in a surprise, political pundits says, the contest is between Vice President Dr Bawumia and the Trade Minister, John Kyeremateng.
