As part of his social intervention policy to ensure his people have access to quality healthcare, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kintampo North Constituency in the Bono East Region; Hon Joseph Kwame Kumah has made a big intervention in primary healthcare with a provision of ultramodern health facility for the people of Kunsu Community.
With the commissioning of the healthcare Centre with its auxiliary facility in the hard-to-reach Kunsu community within the Constituency, there seems to be a sigh of relief for the residents.
Before the Commissioning of the Health facility, access to primary healthcare in the hard-to-reach Kunsu community was no mere joke.
The facility will provide effective and efficient health delivery, especially in reducing maternal difficulties among rural folks.
Even though Kunsu Health Center is the only health facility that serves over 10,000 residents of Kunsu and surrounding communities, maternal services have been a major challenge for women who assess the facility due lack of a dedicated maternity ward.
For this reason, the former MP for Kintampo North, Mr. Kwesi Etu-Bonde out of his share of the NHIA funds initiated the construction of the maternity block for effective services which the current MP, Hon Kwame Kumah has ensured its completion.
At a mini durbar of Chiefs and people of Kunsu to officially hand over the facility to the Ghana Health Services (GHS), the Kumah aka Jakala commended his predecessor for the initiative and called on the government to ensure the continuity of legacy projects for the benefit of the citizenry.
The MP also donated a Motorbike to the Municipal Police Command to help in combating crime.
The Kintampo North Municipal Director of Health, Dr. Collins Danquah, expressed gratitude to the MP and his predecessor for the project as it would increase access to quality healthcare services in the Municipality.
He however called for more support to furnish the facility with equipment and working staff.
The Chief of Kunsu Traditional area, Osahene Kwaku Korateng II, and the MCE for Kintampo, Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw, called for a culture of maintenance.
Some of the residents also commended the MP for his intervention as the facility would be a great relief to them from traveling distance to access healthcare services.
