Information picked by EXPRESSNEWSGHANA indicated that about 105 Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Minority caucus have signed a petition to the Functional Executives (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rescind the decision to change the leadership of the Minority in Parliament.

Our sources within the Minority say the group of 105 MPs believed the changes were belated and could spell doom for many of the NDC Parliamentary seats across the nation.

According to our sources, the petitioners are mixed of old and new or middle and backbenchers MPs.

“We are not happy, we are disappointed and we are taking steps to have the party leadership rescind their decision. We are signing a petition for that matter and we pray the leadership will read our petition from beginning to end and see why the changes will not inure to the NDC as a party,” our sources said.

The 105 aggrieved MPs want the current leadership led by Haruna to finish the four years and the party can reconstitute the front bench after the party wins the 2024 elections.

“But let it be said that no one is against those they appointed as our new leaders, they are equally qualified there is no doubt about that, but the timing. We are preparing for parliamentary primaries and we need to mobilize. Where is the time to sit down with the new leaders to tell us what they intend to do going forward?” our sources asked rhetorically.

They believed the 137 MPs of the NDC who work hard in parliament and in the constituencies to keep the party alive ought to have been consulted as to why there is a need for a change of their leaders.

The petition which was initiated with some old MPs signing grew to 105 out of 137 have so far signed.

The MPs petition if accepted, the decision to replace Haruna Iddrisu, Muntaka Mubarak and James Avedzi with Cassiel Ato Forson, Kwame Agbodza wouldn be quash.
