Breaking: Ghana Card not Credible for Voter Registrar- John Afful
An aspiring parliamentary candidate for Weija-Gbawe Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Afful has said the credibility of the national identification card could no longer be trusted for the compilation of a new voter register as one person can obtain the card with multiple names.
According to him, the recent revelation of the ‘dual identity’ of Secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, Reverend Victor Kusi-Boateng with multiple Ghana Card has tainted the credibility of the National Identification Authority (NIA) to provide a credible database for the compilation of new Voter Register.
M r. Afful made this pronouncement during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, in Accra.
He joined lawmaker for North Tongu, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to demand an explanation from the National Identification Authority as to how the popular prophet arrived at their registration centre as Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng but was mysteriously issued a Ghana Card bearing the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.
With this, the NDC national communication team member said made the Ghana Card not credible to be a sole identification for the voter register as proposed by the Electoral Commission (EC).
He again condemned the utilization of state funds for the construction of the National Cathedral at the expense of needy projects like roads, health and education projects, among others that the government has abandoned.
Mr. Afful who is contesting the NDC Weija-Gbawe parliamentary candidature with other aspirants hinged his campaign on inclusiveness and equal opportunities and maintained that the Weija-Gbawe Constituency deserves better representation in parliament and he delivered when given the node as a candidate and subsequently elected as MP.
He said he remained the best candidate of the NDC to wrestle the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for he dedicated, determined, and fearless person who would do everything humanely possible to bring the needed development for his constituents when elected.
He, therefore, called on members of the NDC in Weija-Gbawe Constituency to give him the node as a parliamentary candidate in the upcoming parliamentary primaries in the constituency.
