The Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Ismaila Ali Horoya has called on all aspirants of both Presidential and Parliamentary primaries to defer their victory celebration till the party is declared victorious in 2024.

According to him, the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries are a party’s internal mechanism to select those who could help the party to win the national elections, and whoever emerges the winner should focus on the ultimate victory come December 7, 2024.

He expressed confidence that the NDC has what it takes to retain the Zongo’s communities as strongholds of the Party in the Greater Accra Region and capture more of the parliamentary seat but cautioned that, that could be achieved if the winners of the primaries ensure unity afterward.

Hon Horoya also called on all aspirants to caution their supporters against the reckless celebration of the upcoming primaries victory and ensure a modest celebration to avoid loss of lives.

“I want to say that, until the NDC is declared the winner of the 2024 Presidential and parliamentary election, there will be no celebration.

The Primaries are just a formality,  the real victory is coming, on December 7, 2024. No one should start celebrating because he or she wins the primaries; the work is on the ground. And we have to work on unity.

“Unity is the key, if not you can celebrate primaries and go into the national elections and lose. All because you only focus on your primaries and failed to reach out to the losing side to work together, “Horoya said.

The NDC has set a timetable for parliamentary and presidential primaries for the 2024 general elections

The opening of nominations: is from 22nd to 24th February, the filling of nominations is from 20th to 22nd March, Vetting: is from 27th to 29th March, appeals are from 30th March to 6th April 2023, and the election is scheduled for 13th May 2023.

The Parliamentary and Presidential primaries will be conducted simultaneously across the 276 Constituencies in the country.
