Some youth members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kpando Constituency in Volta Region, have commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Dela Adjoa Sowah for not Betraying the party in Parliament during the process to approve newly nominated Ministers by President Akufo Addo.

According to the youth, the MP has exhibited as a true comrade beyond reproach and has shown her determination to work for the cause of the people of Kpando and the NDC party.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Fiifi Kwertey in his Facebook, also commended Dela Sowah for not Betraying the party in Parliament.

Parliament on Friday, March 24, voted to approve the new Ministers despite the Minority stance against such appointment.

The Minority through the party directives ask the NDC MPs to vote against the Ministers after their vetting.

But the five MPs were able to sail through the voting having obtained votes beyond the number of the members of the Majority caucus.

The Ministers were K.T Hammond, Bryn Acheampong, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Osei Bonsu Amoah and Dr Stephen Amoah, whom all got votes to approve them as Ministers .

Hon Dela Sowah

The Minority kicked against the President nominees on grounds that the country is going through economic hardhip and that there was the need for the President to reduce the governing size.

Out of the 275 MPs of Parliament, three of them were absent.

The caucus were therefore equal in numbers of 136 each and the motion could have lost if voting were done equally.

But at the close of the votes, the ministerial nominees have over 140 votes each, indicating that some members of the NDC minority defied the party orders and vote to approve the Ministers as well as some judges of the Supreme Court.

However the MP for Kpando has exhibited and exonerated herself as she was not part of MPs that betrayed the party in Parliament.

She had earlier before the voting joined leadership of the Minority to address he press to dassure the nation and the party of their determination.

Some of the comments in social media commending the MP for her loyality to the party.

A member of the NDC Youth in Kpando identified as Stephen said they are grateful to the MP for standing firm to represent the party and the people of Kpando.
