Officials and leadership of the United Front Party (UFP) have petitioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against one Prince Moses Zakaria, a member of the party who switched camps and filed nomination as a parliamentary aspirant of the NDC for Madina Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

According to the UFP, Prince Zakaria is their full member but is currently on suspension over misconduct contrary to the party rules and regulations.

The leadership of the UFP revealed this in a press statement signed by its Leader and Founder, Dr Nana Agyenim-Boateng and copied to the EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

The press statement which tackled topical issues happening in the country in the political front warned the NDC party, especially the Madina Constituency chapter not to entrust the NDC faith in the hands of Prince Zakaria as an aspirant for the upcoming parliamentary primaries.

DR ANANA AGYENIM-BOATENG AND PRINCE ZAKARIA

The UFP claimed that, until Prince Zakaria was suspended on grounds of breach of the party rules, he was the party general secretary and remained a member of their party as of March 29, 2023.

“We also wish to, as a Party, warn and urge the NDC not to entertain persons such as our former General Secretary, Mr. Prince Moses Zakaria, who we hear intends to contest for the Parliamentary seat of the people of Madina on the ticket of the NDC. Mr. Zakaria, our immediate-past General Secretary, was dismissed for anti-Party conduct due to his affiliation with and leaking of sensitive information to the NPP. Until we removed him as a General Secretary of our Party, he worked against the NDC. We also do not have any record of him having officially resigned from our party as a member. It is for this reason that his nomination was a shock to us as a party.

“Such character and conduct from an individual who in our books remains a member of our Party gives cause for concern and leads to situations of party disloyalty, part of which is being witnessed with the current challenges of the Minority Group in Parliament. The NDC must not allow and tolerate such individuals, as it our duty to restore and reward values of truth, integrity, honesty, loyalty, and selfless service, to our body politics. As a Party, we have officially Petitioned the NDC leadership in respect of this matter and are available to provide further evidence if need be,” the press statement signed by  Dr Nana Agyenim-Boateng added.

PRESS STATEMENT BY UNITED FRONT PARTY ON RECENT

HAPPENINGS IN THE COUNTRY AND IN THE BIGGEST OPPOSITION PARTY NDC

Introduction

This is a Press Statement on recent happenings in the country and in the largest opposition Party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). We in the United Front Party (UFP) wish to express our disappointment in the leadership of the Minority Group in Parliament over their inability to keep the reckless Akufo Addo Government accountable.

UFP Disappointed in Minority Group in Parliament of Appointees Approvals

The actions and inactions of the Minority Group in recent times have cast doubts over our Democracy and its ability to deliver the required fruits and necessary dividends for the people of Ghana when desired. We, therefore, call on the NDC, the largest Opposition Party, to put its house in order and provide a viable alternative to the current Administration, which has proved itself so far clueless, mediocre and sub-standard.

The Ghanaian people can no longer look up to the NPP-led government to deliver us from this economic mess. This is why we; the smaller opposition parties look to the NDC to lead the way to bring the needed change that Ghanaians so much cherish and desire. The NDC Party must be seen as being disciplined, instilling discipline in its rank and file, and disciplining persons who go against Party directives. Considering the depravation, the Akufo Addo-Bawumia Government has plunged this country into, the largest opposition NDC putting its House in order and ensuring a United Front at all times is the first step and test towards delivering Ghana We Want.

Electoral Commission Should Abandon New C.I Until They Have Consensus With Main Opposition Party

On the new C.I. being advanced and considered by the Electoral Commission, we wish to urge the E.C. to consider good reason and sound judgment and abandon the proposed C.I. until an agreement or resolution is reached with all Political Parties, particularly those represented in Parliament. This is the right thing to do in the interest of our Democracy. It is also the time as a people, we reconsider appointments to the Electoral Commission. The recent appointments of some deputy Commissioners by President Akufo Addo who are known to be closely affiliated with the NPP gives cause for concern and is suggestive of the low depths we have sunk into in our democratic dispensation as truly representing an era of erosion of democratic gains.

UFP Congratulates H.E. John Dramani Mahama For His Decision To Run For President In 2024

Also, as a Party, we wish to congratulate H.E. John Dramani Mahama, former President of the Republic, for his successful nomination, filing and vetting, as well as most importantly, his desire to come back to rescue this country. The current times require a caring, thoughtful and compassionate leader who puts the needs of the country ahead of his parochial interests and desires.

UFP Petitions For Disqualification Of Their Former General Secretary, Mr. Prince Moses Zakaria From Contesting As MP On Ticket Of NDC In Madina Constituency

We also wish to, as a Party, warn and urge the NDC not to entertain persons such as our former General Secretary, Mr.

Such character and conduct from an individual who in our books remains a member of our Party gives cause for concern and leads to situations of party disloyalty, part of which is being witnessed with the current challenges of the Minority Group in Parliament. The NDC must not allow and tolerate such individuals, as it our duty to restore and reward values of truth, integrity, honesty, loyalty, and selfless service, to our body politics. As a Party, we have officially Petitioned the NDC leadership in respect of this matter and are available to provide further evidence if need be.

ConcIusion

We wish to state emphatically that until such a time that all smaller political parties can form a major third force, we wish to render our unflinching support to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the time to rescue Ghana is Now!

We are grateful for your attendance and thank you for your attention. Thank you.
