The member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has urged the Youth of Africa to lead participation and advocacy for the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Hon. Sosu made these remarks during a panel discussion at the Women Lead Forum organised by the Southern Africa Embrace Foundation, an international development charitable organization which holds the United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status Accreditation, on the topic “Implementing the AfCFTA, Africa’s Youth as catalysts for action and its success” at the Africa Trade House & AfCFTA Headquarters in Accra, Ghana.

Hon. Sosu said “If the AfCFTA is to work, then the Youth must be at the forefront by way of participation and advocacy to make demands, insist on them, and drive home same for the attention of policy makers. If Africa’s Youth across the Continent decide that enough is enough and this is the way we want to go, then various Heads of States and Governments will have no choice but to provide political support and show strong commitment towards implementing the objects of the AfCFTA Agreement.”

This year’s Women Lead Forum under the theme “StepItUp for AfCFTA” in partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat, forms part of efforts to highlight and promote the significant role of marginalised groups, such as women and the Youth, in implementation of the AfCFTA for the Continent’s socio-economic development.
