The Greater Accra Regional Zongo caucus Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Ismaila Ali Horoya has debunked claims by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso East, Hajia Salma Sani Mohammed Adams Kuta that the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has brought development to the Municipality than any other government under the Fourth Republic.

According to the NDC Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator,  Nima the Municipal capital of the Ayawaso East Municipality received much of its development infrastructure under the NDC Administration.

He said, development projects like the Nima Market, the Nima drainage which separates Nima and Mamobi and the Nima Health Centre were all projects provided by the NDC government.

Mr. Ali Horoya said the current government only upgraded the status of the Health Centre to a Polyclinic without additional infrastructure and could not pass the test of development as claimed by the MCE.

Recently, the MCE in interaction with the Media in the Municipality claimed that, the Nima and its environs had received much development and more of such are budgeted to improve upon the lives of the people.

She said the Nima health centre which is the only health institution in the Municipality has been upgraded to a Polyclinic status and plans far advanced to expand the infrastructure.

But the NDC Zongo Caucus Coordinator in an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, challenged the MCE to provide evidence of tangible development projects under her administration to buttress her claims.

He added that, since the NDC left office in 2017 the Nima has not witnessed any form of development apart from renaming the health centre and urged the MCE to use the Internal Generated Funds (IGF) that the Assembly generated from the Health centre and Market that were built under the NDC to improve upon the living condition of the residents and stop using them for consumption and living lavish lifestyle.

Mr. Ali Horoya noted that the NPP has been giving lips services to the Zongo Communities in the last six years in power and that, it is only the NDC that has the Zongo Communities at heart, adding that, “the track records of NDC in Zongos communities is not in doubts, the evidence is there and no one can dispute about what NDC has done and will be doing for my people in our next administration.”

He called on the Zongo communities, especially Nima not to allow themselves to be deceived by the NPP for their votes as they (NPP) have done over the last few years with what he described as a “fake Ministry of Zongo Development”, which is a now defunct.
