A former Member of Parliament ( MP) for Zabzugu, Hon. Alhassan Umar, has stated that the Nana Addo-Bawumia-led government cannot take full credit for the Tamale-Yendi-Zabzugu road project.

According to him, funding and designs works of the project was procured by the time John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration before the party left office.

Speaking on the performance of the NPP government in the Zabzugu Constituency, Mr. Umar known as Obaako recalled that former president John Dramani Mahama, on August 26, 2016, announced to people of Zabzugu of the government having secured funding from the World Bank to construct the road.

He said the bituminous double surface dressing road from Tatale to Zabzugu to Yendi in the Northern Region was already in place before the Akufo Addo come to power

He quoted the former president as saying “Proposals had been approved and the tendering process completed for work to begin on the 80-kilometer road up to Natchamba, which shared a boundary with the Republic of Togo”.

Hon. Umar who was recently elected as the Parliament Candidate at the NDC primaries, recounted numerous development project interventions during his tenure as MP for the area.

He mentioned the construction of Zabzugu RCHC in Zabzugu township, Vokpia Primary School in Kowrli, extension of electricity to some schools in Zabzugu township, support to students at all levels, reroofing of Mognegu and Gor Kuni primary schools, sinking of 22 boreholes in some communities, provision of anti-snake venom (ASV), procurement of 29 beds for the hospital, and COVID-19 support to the Ghana Health Services, among others.
He said the Zabzugu constituency stand to benefit more development when he is selected to parliament.
The former MP charged the constituents never to allow themselves to be deceive for the second time by NPP and it’s apparachits.
