Parliament has officially notified the Electoral Commission of the vacant seat of the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region.

An official notice from parliament to the EC and signed by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah indicated that the vacant seat is occasioned by a Supreme Court Judgment in the case of Michael Ankomah Nimfah verse Hon James Gyakye Quayson.

The case which commenced from the High Court in Cape Coast was finally ended when the Supreme Court delivered it decision on the matter on an appeal by Hon Quayson after been in the court for over two years.

After parliament has officially declared the seat vacant, the EC will now set a date for a by-election to fill in the vacuum.

Meanwhile Hon James Quayson has hinted that he would contest the seat again to serve his people.
