Bawumia Incompetence Worse than Akufo-Addo- James Avedzi
The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC), Dr James Klutse Avedzi has told the Vice President, Dr, Mahamadu Bawumia to stop contemplating becoming a president of the Republic of Ghana if he had any iota of credibility after taking the country’s economy into a heavy ditch.
Speaking to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA , days after the Vice President filed his nomination forms at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters at Adabraka in Accra, the former Deputy Minority Leader said Ghanaians have learned a bitter lesson and would not repeat such a mistake.
The Vice President told the NPP Supporters how he is prepared to lead the party to economic growth and spelled out the vision he has for the country.
But Hon Avedzi who is the Member of Parliament for Ketu North questioned the credibility of the vice president neither to lead the NPP nor to talk of the country.
“What is Bawumia going to do that we don’t know? He is even worse than Akufo-Addo, he is the one who drove us into a ditch and is now talking about “Vision” If Bawumia had a vision, why we are not seeing that vision today,?”, Hon Avedzi questioned.
According to him, after achieving the unenviable record of leading Ghana to the IMF, and breaking all negative records of economic management, Dr. Bawumia now wants to lead and destroy the nation further.
In his considered view, the credibility of Bawumia is in tatters and dying by the day, and very soon nobody would even want to listen to the NPP again because they fail to fulfill what they claim they came to do.
Dr. Avedzi criticized the government, indicating that Ghanaians cannot relate to claims by the government of huge investments in the economy, saying, “Dr Bawumia and NPP claim to have put in over billions in the economy,” yet, today many places across the country are seeing the worst deplorable of roads.
The NPP has set November 4 for the National Congress and August 26 for its Super Delegates Congress.
These noteworthy occurrences will determine who will represent the NPP in the upcoming general election in 2024.
Seven candidates, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and Kwabena Agyepong had submitted their candidacy papers as of the time filling this report.
But Hon Avedzi said Bawumia was not competent to lead the NPP and That he and Akufo-Addo has destroyed the country and would not be allowed to come near power again.
He argued that moving the economy from taxation to production is one of the fanciful visions of Dr, Bawumia that led to the collapse of production after they somersaulted and introduce over 24 taxes to kill businesses.
The former Deputy Minority Leader said giving the NPP and Bawumia another opportunity to retain power would be disastrous, saying, “Bawumia is worse. If he has anything good for Ghana, we should have seen it almost seven years now, but we are yet to see his competency.”
