Give Out Your Best Despite Daunting challenges – Dr Zanetor Urges BECE Candidates
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle, Hon Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has charged students participating in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to give out their best and make their parents and the constituency proud.
According to her, the exams mark the beginning of their academic ladder and they must try not to backslide and ensure that they come out with the best grades to enable them further their education.
Dr. Zanetor made these comments when she toured some of the BECE examination centres with the Municipal Director of Education to assess the ongoing examination.
“My team and I, led by the Director of Education for the Korle-Klottey Municipality, Circuit Supervisors and Examinations Officer spent the morning visiting examination centres in the Klottey-Korle Constituency.
“I must say that witnessing the hardworking students in the midst of their 2023 BECE exams was inspiring and brought back memories of my BECE in 1992. I commend all students that are pushing through to finish their exams, despite the infrastructural challenges at some of the exam centres.
The MP used the opportunity to thank the teachers for their toil over the years to enable the students to reach this far.
“I Special thanks to the teachers who have helped prepare these students for their exams and who arrive at the various exam centres to take on the role of invigilators! Your service and sacrifice have not gone unnoticed!!
“To the students, your dedication and focus are commendable and your future is bright!
Wishing you the very best in your academic journey,” she added.
This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination for public and private schools as well as private candidates starts on Monday, August 7 and ends on Friday, August 11, across the country.
A total of 600,714 candidates, comprising 300,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 participating schools registered for the school examination.
The examination regulation body, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said the number of candidates that registered for this year’s examination was 8.8 per cent higher than the year 2022 entry figure of 552,276.
A total entry figure of 1,743 Candidates for private candidates was recorded for 2023.
