MP for Akatsi South Cautions Public about Fake Facebook Accounts
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South, Hon Bernard Ahiafor has cautioned the public to disregard a Facebook account in his name used to defraud unsuspecting people.
According to him, fraudsters and scammers have created fake Facebook accounts in his name and using same to dupe people.
The MP cautioned that people should not deal with such characters for any offer and purported job recruitment opportunities.
“It has come to my attention that some fraudsters are using my name, pictures and other Facebook accounts they have created to extort monies from people with the promise of assisting them in many different things. There is a thief scamming people behind this page; Hon Bernard Ahiafor.”
“Please note that I will not take any amount from anyone for any help that I can genuinely offer. Pls be alert and don’t fall for such tricks.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, avoid the scammer behind the account, Hon Bernard Ahiafor. Deal with him at your own risk,” Hon Ahiafor cautioned the general public on his official Facebook accounts.
He has, therefore, urged the public to disregard impostors who use his name to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
This is coming at the back of concerns raised by some members of Parliament recently over widespread fake Facebook accounts created in their names and other public figures to defraud unsuspecting individuals particularly the youth seeking employment opportunities.
Some of these faceless fraudsters operating the account are soliciting money from the general public making unrealistic promises to them.
