THE Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle Constituency, Dr Zanetor Agueman-Rawlings has made humanitarian visit to fire victims at Abuja-CMB Slim within the Constituency.

The wooden structure Slum was gutted by fire in the early hours of Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Residents who are mostly petty traders and squatters in the city, have their belongings burnt to ashes.

Property worth of thousands of Ghana cedis have been consumed by the fire, thereby leaving the residents homeless.

The cause of the fire was not yet known, but Citizen Journalists reports that over 200 squatters have been affected in the fire incident.

Some of the affected squatters broke in tears when the MP visited the scene to console them for the losses of property to fire.

Dr Zanetor who was accompanied by Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) empathized with the victims.

She however promised to meet them afterwards to plan the way forward for their safety and the best she could support.

She further encouraged them to put themselves in order and as she ensured the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly intervened with immediate effect to help alleviate their plight

This was not the first time that a fire incident occurred at the Abuja Slum community.

The community which is faced with eviction by city authorities have suffered several fire incidents in the past due to alleged illegal connection of electricity, a situation the squatters vehemently denied severally.
