Over 500 Orphans Receives Education Support from Life for Relief and Development
Over 500 children, mostly Orphans from some selected Orphanages within the Greater Accra Region have received education support from LIFE for Reliefs and Development, a United States of America (USA) based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
The donation dubbed, “Back to School” donation is part of the Life for Relief and Development humanitarian project to provide relief for poor and needy people in poverty conflict-afflicted communities,
The beneficiaries of Orphans were from Dodowa, Alajo, Madina, and other communities in and around the Pantang village area in Accra.
The over 500 Orphans received financial support for their school fees, and school bags, books, and other writing materials were distributed to them.
The Country Director of Life for Relief and Development, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, said the donation was in fulfillment of the organization’s primary objectives and commitment to improving educational opportunities for children, especially orphans.
According to him, it was the organization assistance mission to help vulnerable children in society to better their living and education.
He said the donation is an annual event for which the Organisation takes the responsibility to support poor school children go back to school.
“Apart from the orphans, many parents cannot afford their children’s basic needs. We understand that we cannot supply everything, but this is our small contribution to assist the children to go back to school and learn,” he said.
Farouk Ibrahim urged the children to take their studies seriously and urged teachers and Orphanage managers to monitor and encourage them, particularly the needy students, to stay and learn.
The Life for Relief and Development, he said is dedicated to promoting education as a critical instrument for ending the cycle of poverty in rural communities.
“We seek to empower children with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life through our various programs and initiatives. We can make a difference in the lives of children in poor families and communities and help them build a brighter future,” Farouk said.
Farouk however assured that, in line with its objectives, Life for Relief and Development would not only be in the Oti region but across the country.
Some of the Orphanage Managers including Abdul-Razak Abdu for Dodowa, commended the organization for its efforts to help underprivileged children thrive in life. They pledged to use the financial support and the items received for their intended use.
Some of the orphans took turns to display their education talents in the Quran recital, among others.
Life for Relief and Development is a Humanitarian organization that provides essential and life-saving support to people regardless of their race, religion, gender, and cultural values or background.
It has over the years reached out to some communities and institutions and recently supported the Madina Constituency with some medical equipment to the Municipal Directorate of Health and books to the Education Directorates with the sole aim of bringing hope where it is needed most and supporting communities where there is extreme poverty.
