First Time Voters Commends Akatsi South MP over Limited Registration Support
Concern youth and first-time voters in Akatsi South, who successfully registered at the just-ended Limited Voter Registration exercises, conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), have commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Bernard Ahiafor for supporting them during the exercises.
According to the concerned new voter registrants, the MP’s timely intervention with transportation to the EC office to register for the 2024 election, was remarkable and must be commended.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 3, a day after the registration ended, and in appreciation to the MP, the first-time voter said, “The frequent break down of the EC registration machine and the ECG power off had made the process difficult and delayed many of us for days.
A portion of the statement reads, “It is much knowledge that the Electoral Commission together with this cruelest NPP government has deployed several means to disenfranchise many of us from registering as voters in the just ended limited voter registration exercise.

“The distance from our various places of abode to the Electoral Commission District office in Akatsi South was practically impossible to commute daily.
“Couple with the rainy season which made our roads impossible for easy access by motor or car and the financial difficulty of even getting what to eat during the several hours of stay in the queue.
“The frequent breakdown of the EC registration machine and the ECG power off had made the process difficult and delayed many of us for days,” the statement read.
“We want to use this medium to thank him *Hon. Ahiafor* so much. Some of us were so surprised to see him among the drivers transporting us to and fro.
“We salute everyone, the MP, chairman Tony Owusu (Wesfalia), Solomon Adoteivi, Dagba, Gidi, Nazi, Moses Tagbor (Chesto), Isaac Atsivor, Selasi, Kudoto Victuse, Suley, Catherine, and many others,” the statement added.
