The Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu has donated one hundred bags of cement to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church, Oyarifa for an ongoing church building project.

The MP who is a Catholic and a Human Rights lawyer donated the cement when he joined the Church on Sunday, October 1, 2023 for Mass.

He thanked the Catholic Church, especially the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference for always standing by him to promote and protect the basic human rights of citizens.
According to him, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference has lent its support to him on recent legislative Bills that directly deny citizens of their basic human rights and lives.

Some of the Bills that the MP sponsored include the abolition of Death Penalty, Anti-Witchcraft bill which have been passed and the yet to be laid VAT Amendment Bill seeking to remove taxes on Sanitary pads for women.

Hon Sosu assured the Church of his continuous support as he remained committed to development needs of the constituents despite his limited resources as an opposition MP.

He asked the Church to continue to intercede for him in prayers to discharge his responsibility as representative of the people in parliament.

The Priest In-Charge, Rev Fr Anthony Kofi Anomah, C.S.Sp., who received the items on behalf of the church expressed his gratitude to the MP for the gesture.

He said the donation was timely and assured him that the items would be used for the intended purpose.

The Bags of Cement donated

Some members of the Church Pastoral Council, including its Chairman, Mr Henry Adjei, Vice Chairman, Mr. Daniel Gaikpah , Secretary , Mr. Felix Amissah, and others joined the Priest In-charge to receive the cement.
The cement would be used to continue the ongoing Muiti-purpose Church building project with over 1,000 sitting capacity when completed.
