We need Your Prayers in These Tough Times – Israel Ambassador Appeals to Ghanaians
The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana , Her Excellency Shlomit Sufa has appealed to all friends of Israel to stand firm with her in the ongoing war with Hamas. She also requested for prayers and support in diverse forms for Israel in “ these tough times.”
Madam Sufa was speaking at Cedar Mountain Chapel at East Legon in Accra where she had gone to worship and hold discussions with the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam.
The Israeli Ambassador strongly condemned the attacks on Israel by Hamas that resulted in the death of 1,400 Israelis and the abduction of more than 200 others. She was emphatic that “ Israel will win the war against Hamas.
Madam Sufa reiterated the call for the unconditional release of all the hostages being held by Hamas.
For his part, Rev Wengam , who is also the Lead Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel extended sympathies of the church to the nation of Israel. Quoting Psalm 122:6-8 , he explained that the Bible enjoins Christians to support and pray for Israel unconditionally.
Rev Wengam criticized the attacks on ordinary and innocent civilians and the abduction of some . He also asked Israel to be “ measured “ in her response to the attacks by Hamas.
Rev Wengam said “ we know that you have been provoked to unimaginable proportions. However, the Bible says we don’t have to meet anger with anger. “
The General Superintendent said the Church will continue to pray for restraint on the side of Israel as well as divine guidance to deal with the issue at hand. He led the congregation to “pray fervently for Israel and the Middle East in general as well as the release of the hostages, adding that “the good Lord will intervene for the men, women and children who have been abducted.
Present was the Burkinabe Ambassador to Ghana , His Excellency David Kabre who is a member of Cedar Mountain Chapel , and Rev Mark Morrow from the USA who is on a missionary visit to Ghana.
