The Member of Parliament for Kpando, Hon Dela Sowah has described the 2024 budget presented by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, as empty, uninspiring and hopeless, as it does not offer any measures to reduce the suffering and hardship of Ghanaians.

According to her, the budget failed to spell out measures to rescue companies from collapse and stop the increasing lay-off of workers, while the economic targets for 2024 were not achievable.

Besides, she noted, the budget was anchored on more borrowings which would tie the hands of successive governments.

Hon Dela Sowah made the observation in tan interviews with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA after she took her turn to debate on the 2024 Budget presented by the Minister of Finance in Parliament.

The MP who is the Deputy Ranking on the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament said the budget was uninspiring, as it was anchored more on empty promises and propaganda things that, lies were the cheapest way to govern.

She said the government gained more funds in the energy sector but mismanaged the economy to the extent the power producers are in debt.

The national debt has increased from GH¢120 billion to GH¢c170 billion and he is claiming the economy is resilient and he is turning the corner, as an improved performance of debt to gross domestic product (GDP) in terms of debt distress management.

Hon Dela Sowah said arguably the National Democratic Congress (NDC), under President John Dramani Mahama, had the superior record and that Dr Bawumia is a liability to Ghanaians.
