Life for Relief and Development donates 6,650 textbooks and Foods to Akosombo Flood Victims
The Ghana’s branch of the Life for Relief and Development, a United States of America (USA) based non-governmental organization (NGO) has donated textbooks and food items to the Akosombo Dam Spillage victims at North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region.
A total of 133 boxes containing 6,650 pieces of textbooks and 110 boxes containing 3,960 Mana-pack rice were donated to the victims and children in the affected communities.
The Organisation was led by its country Director for West Africa, Mr Umar Farouk Ibrahim and other staff including its Public Relation Officer, Mr. Sahabi ibn Yunus and Mr. Shamsudeen Mussa, an Accountant of the organization.
Presenting the items to the MP, Mr. Sahabi Ibn Yunus explained that the donation was part of the organization objectives to reach out those afflicted and vulnerable in society.
He said the items donated is to help support the school children as the fold affected everything including their books for study, emphasizing that, the 50 boxes of textbooks and 110 boxes of rice of Mana packs would help the victims and prayed that such disaster do not repeat itself.
Mr Yunus assured that Life for Relief and Development would continue to offer its support to the MP and the constituent and commended him for the marvellous work he is doing to salvage the situation and make his constituent’s life restore to normal.
He added that, the ultimate aim of Life for Relief and Development is to put smile on faces of the venerable and having heard the disaster they decided to move in to support what the MP and others are doing.
“We admire the work you are doing. And we felt as an organization that is devoted to help the poor and the vulnerable in conflicted zones, we should come to support you,” Yunus stated.
Hon. Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa, on behalf of the Chiefs, Queen Mothers and the displaced person received the items and expressed his deepest appreciation to Life for Reliefs and Development Ghana for the support
He added that he is thankful to the partner of the organization in the United States and other parts of the world for their acts of kindness shown to the children for providing not just food but also textbooks, which he stressed, “is the best to empower them to grow into useful citizens of the world.”
Life for Relief and Development is a Humanitarian organization that provides essential and life-saving support to people regardless of their race, religion, gender, and cultural values or background.
It has over the years reached out to some communities and institutions and recently supported Children in Oti region with Manna Pack rice, the Madina Constituency with some medical equipment to the Municipal Directorate of Health and books to the Education Directorates with the sole aim of bringing hope where it is needed most and supporting communities where there is extreme poverty.
