Parliament Special Committee in Crunch meeting to Consider Leaked IGP Tape Report
The Special Committee set up to investigate the leaked tape of an alleged plot to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is in a crunch meeting today, Friday, December 22, 2023, to take a final decision on its investigation draft report on the matter.
The Committee ended its public hearing on the matter in October, this year, but has since not issue its final report after two months of investigation.
The seven member committee was set up by parliament to investigate the authenticity of the viral leaked tape on IGP Dampare.
The leaked tape contains a conversation between Bugri Naabu and three senior Police Officers: retired COP Alex Mensah, Superintendent George Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, plotting the removal of the IGP to help the NPP rig the 2024 elections.
Bugri Naabu, the first witnessed to the Committee, had confirmed the tape was authentic and that he recorded it so he could make his case before the President on behalf of the lobbies of the IGP post.
During its sitting, the Committee called witnesses who testified to the tape in public and in camera.
The Committee also discovered another tape which they found to be related to the subject and questioned the witnesses.
