The Member of Parliament for Wenchi, Hon Seidu Haruna has accused the government of only paying lip services to the Agriculture sector and not tackling the problems.

According to him, the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme been touted by officials of the government is much more a propaganda than reality.

The PFJ, he said though good, it has been poorly implemented as the sector Minister of Food and Agriculture could not account for the achievement of the policy when he appeared before Committee on Food, Aquaculture and Cocoa Affairs in Parliament to defend the 2024 budget estimates.

In his view, the current government is only good at slogan and rhetoric’s but delivered nothing to Ghanaian farmers as all its agriculture policies have failed to achieve good results.

Speaking to EXPRESSNEWSGHANA after parliament approved the 2024 budget estimate for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Hon Seidu said the low priority meted out to the agriculture sector by the present government has pushed farmers to abject poverty.
