Pan-AfricaParliament: Ghana MP kicks Against Scheduled Elections

A member of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan-African Parliament Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh has joined other West African MPs in denouncing the forthcoming elections at the Parliament as unlawful.

According to him, a swift action is needed from Foreign Ministers across Africa to safeguard the Pan-African Parliament.

This followed a February 3 memo which called MPs together in Addis Ababa on February 28, for an elective plenary session.

Hon. Annoh-Dompreh, in his capacity as the Majority Chief Whip representing Nsawam/Adoagyiri and leading the All Special Delegation at the Pan-African Parliament, expressed his dissatisfaction through social media regarding the recent decision to hold elections for the replacement of three members of the Presidency of the continental body, a move that has raised suspicions.

In his considered view, “PAP must not partake in any illegitimate actions… We refuse to regress!”

The Ghanaian lawmaker backed his protest with a letter of protest from the Chairpersons of regional caucuses directed to Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
