The Parliament select committee of Mines and Energy were impressed with the works of Strategic Mobilizations Ghana Limited (SML) when the committee paid a working tour to the facility in Tema.

The indigenous Ghanaian company in the downstream petroleum sector facilities are modern facilities in the country.

The industrial tour to the facility by Committee
was to familiarize and appreciate the work the company has done and will be doing going forward.

Members of the Committee toured the operation and data center in order to report to Parliament.

The Committee visited the data operation centre where the company has a network of petroleum depots across the country and meter reading Centre.

Speaking to Journalists after the tour, Chairman of the Mines and Energy Committee, Samuel Atta Akyea says the Committee appreciates the work of the SML.
He describe the facility as a world class audit firm and with records so far.

Nevertheless, Mr Atta Akyea noted that the Committee would go into details since the presidency will be furnished with the report.

He was worried that some people will crucify a Ghanaian owed company which was helpeing mobilize revenue but throwing issues onto the public space without appreciating exactly what the company does.

He queried “ why do we give people and ourselves bad names when we have no idea about the work they do, when they are rather helping the nation get what it deserves”. He continues “fact twisting and destruction based on some cartels, ganging up to corrupt the system may not have the opportunity, hence good people become bad” he ended

The chairman commended the highly the work though the House will invites the company to Parliament for briefing.

He was amazed the world class installation the Committee has come to see at first hand.

Currently, the President is awaiting the investigative audit by KPMG with a four-point referee with compliance, need for the contract, performance and the procurement process of selection of SML for the work they are doing.

Dr Yaa Serwa Sarpong, Director of Support Services of SML says the company’s performance in the petroleum downstream has been enormous, stressing all stakeholders in the industry appreciate its work.

She added that the taxation petroleum audit and revenue assurance has seen double increment.

“Before SML records shows that Goverment revenue assurance with taxable Petroleum products was around 250 million liters which is now an average of 45-48 million litters and that translates into over GHS12 billion” she insists.
