In fulfilment of its objectives, the Al-Khair Foundation, an international Muslim aid Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in the United Kingdom, has provided food items to support about poor and vulnerable Muslim households in Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, for the 2024 Ramadan fasting season.

The items included, bags of rice, cooking oil, packs of Spaghetti, salt, cartons of tin tomatoes and many others consumables were distributed to households in Madina, Pantang and Alajo in Accra and South-West Koukoumu and Akuapim North in Eastern Region.

The Al-Khair Foundation, the third-largest Muslim charity foundation in the UK, as part of its humanitarian project known as ‘Bless and Blessed Ramadan Food Pack programme’ is one of its aims at distributing food items to the most deprived and poor groups of people in the country.

It also serves as part of efforts by the Foundation objectives to help alleviate the suffering of those in need worldwide, including Ghana.

The Al-Khair Foundation was established in 2003, and aims to deliver aid to the poor and vulnerable, as well as education for the Muslim community.

The Foundation also provides humanitarian support, international development, emergency aid and disaster relief in some of the world’s most deprived areas.

Mr. Sahabi Yunus, Coordinator of Al-Khair Foundation, noted that the economic challenges across the world had made it necessary to support the poor and vulnerable families.

He said the Foundation recognizing the sufferings of most Ghanaian Muslims households, took it upon itself to extend the gesture, especially as they entered the holy month of Ramadan.

According to him, the food items would help reduced some level of thinking amongst the Muslim “Ummah” and reduce their cost of living for the Ramadan fast.

He said the Foundation’s humanitarian services comes in many folds and currently, it was providing similar reliefs to aid communities who are facing challenges and advised the beneficiaries to use the items for its intended purpose.

Mr. Yunus assured of extending the humanitarian gestures to other sectors to contribute to the healthcare and wellbeing of the people especially, those in remote areas of the country.

Al-khair Foundation believe in the profound impact of Zakat, a charitable obligation in Islam and the potential it holds to uplift communities and create lasting change.
