Ejisu NPP Delegates ‘Ditched’ Kwesi Nyantakyi at Parliamentary Primary
Delegates of the Ejisu Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, ditched Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, the embattled former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in his bid to replaced former Member of Parliament for the area, John Kumah who died a month ago after a short illness.
Mr Nyantakyi who described himself as ‘Ejisu Cristiano Ronaldo’ was given a reality check in the Ejisu NPP parliamentary primaries.
The former Football President was humiliated with a palpable double figure of 35 votes out of the over 1,000 delegates’ votes.
Despite facing a last-minute health scare, Mr Nyantakyi, the longest serving football administrator till ace Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas documentary outed him on global fiasco scandals, couldn’t garner enough empathy votes to contest the upcoming by-election.
Thankful to the 35 delegates, Nyantakyi count positioned him in 5th place on the ballot, with the incumbent 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman emerging as the winner with 393 votes.
The primary’s standout contender was Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejisu, whose closest rival, Helena Mensah polled 302 votes.
