Life for Relief and Development Celebrates Eid al-Fitr Party with over 200 Orphans in Accra
In fulfilment of its objectives to reach out to the afflicted and the underprivileged in society, the Life for Relief and Development, a United State of America based Non-governmental Organisation on Monday, April 15, 2024, organized Eid al-Fitr party to put smile on faces of over 200 Orphans and abandoned children in Children’s homes within the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.
The Orphans were from Madina, Alajo, Dodowa, Kasoa and other part of Eastern region and were treated with music and fête with food and drinks at the Oyarifa children entertainment centre, Accra.
The Eid al-Fitr orphan party known as “Global Orphans Party” is celebrated globally by Life for Relief and Development and its partners across the world where it operates and provide humanitarian services.
The Country Director for Life and Relief for Development in Ghana and West Africa, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, said the Global Orphans Party is an annual event organized after Ramadan and throughout Eid al-Fitr period to put a smile on the faces of the underprivileged children.
He explained Eid al-Fitr festive celebration is a key component of the NGO object to bring the orphans together for social interaction, merry making and recitals of the Qua-ran with friends, families, and neighbours.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Mr. Ibrahim said Life for Relief and Development has over the years taken care of hundreds of orphans in all aspect of their lives including their education, health and shelter, emphasizing that, “Allah is pleased with people who reached out to orphans even by placing your hands on them.”
He added that, in order to reward their children for their patience during fasting and to make them feel special on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, many Muslim parents shower them with gifts, but the orphans have no such opportunities, hence the intervention by Life for Relief and Development.
The Eid al-Fitr festival is often celebrated by eating special foods such as dates and baklava, and it is also common to send Eid cards to friends and family members who are not celebrating in person.
This, Ibrahim said, ‘LIFE is providing essential aid when and where it is needed and easing suffering and saving lives,” the hallmark of Life for Relief and Development.
The Public Relation Officer (PRO) Mr. Sahabi Ibn Yunus said the organisation has supported the orphans over the years, especially in education and most of them numbering over 20 are in various levels of tertiary education, among others institutions.
He said notwithstanding the challenges in the system, Life for Relief and Development would not relent on its aim to provide for the Orphans and the underprivileged and as well bring them closer to Allah.
He explained that the Eid al-Fitr party sought to strengthen the ties of empathy and brings the Orphans and homeless children together to put a smile on their faces.
Mr Yunus assured that Life would continue to offer support to the less privilege, adding that the ultimate aim is to put a smile on the faces of the venerable, hence the party for the Orphans.
Life for Relief and Development is a Humanitarian organisation that provides essential and life-saving support to people regardless of their race, religion, gender, and cultural values or background.
It has over the years reached out to some communities and institutions and recently supported Children in Oti region with Manna Pack rice, the Madina Constituency with some medical equipment to the Municipal Directorate of Health and books to the Education Directorates with the sole aim of bringing hope where it is needed most and supporting communities where there is extreme poverty.
One of the qualities which beautify our love for each other is when we love for Allah’s sake. Spending on each others one becomes more blessed and rewarded.
Eid al-Fitr is usually the perfect time to spend with friends and family out of sincere love and the desire to please Allah.
Eid presents make a difference in the happiness of homeless children. They are not only a symbol of love and affection in the eye of Allah.
